CONGRATULATION, YOU’VE SAVED INDONESIA!!!

This is the photo that Kompas Daily published in its headline of July 4, 2008. The photo, taken by Alif Ichwan (the daily’s photo journalist in Jakarta), shows us the moment of success that the Indonesian police’s special anti-terrorism unit has just grabbed in an operation in Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra Province. The man in blue oblong is one of the nine suspected members of the most wanted Malaysian terrorist, Noordin M.Top, that the anti-terrorism squad personnel arrested in the South Sumatra’s operation. Congratulation to our police force, you’ve saved Indonesia!! In the aftermath of this apprehension, let’s the court reveal the truth of this case. I share the opinion of Indonesians in general that Noordin M Top, Dr.Azahari Husin (died), and those that they have recruited to ruin Indonesia are the enemy of humanity. They are the common enemies of the entire Indonesian people, who love the country and its pluralistic life. However, despite this success, it does not mean that the threats of hatred in our society have disappeared. They remain there because love and hate are parts of human nature. Thus, we, the people, the government, and the whole law enforcement units should remain cautious with any short-mindedness within our society and even within ourselves. For the government, you have responsibility of not only securing us but also of making us prosperous. Don’t you realize that poverty is also the common enemy of Indonesia because it can cause us to plunge into hopelessness. The hopeless people are prone to recruitment of Noordin M.Top and his backers. Therefore, once again, after gaining this great success, the next work, which is harder than just arresting these nine suspects, is making Indonesia prosperous and civilized.
